Dr. Noelle Carver
Medical Director
Board-certified addiction medicine physician with 18 years of clinical experience. Dr. Carver oversees all medical protocols and leads our neuroscience-based treatment approach.
For 12 years, we have challenged the myths that prevent people from getting help. This is the story of how a small Redwood City ministry became a force for change in addiction treatment.
Twelve years ago, a small faith-based recovery ministry opened its doors at 825 Jefferson Ave in Redwood City. The founders -- a pastor and a clinical psychologist -- shared a conviction that the shame surrounding addiction was killing people just as surely as the substances themselves. They started with folding chairs, donated coffee, and a radical idea: treat every person who walked in as someone worthy of healing, not punishment.
Word spread quickly. Families who had been turned away by judgment-heavy programs found a different experience here. As demand grew, so did our capabilities. We brought on licensed clinicians, earned state accreditation, and expanded to a 47-bed facility staffed by 102 professionals. But the founding principle never changed. Every protocol we adopt, every wall we build, every hire we make is measured against one question: does this reduce shame or add to it?
Today, TMH stands as a fully licensed, evidence-based addiction treatment center that has served over 5,100 patients. We carry the compassion of our faith-based roots and the rigor of modern clinical science -- because the people of Redwood City deserve both.
Our mission is to dismantle the stigma that surrounds addiction and replace it with understanding, science, and unconditional support. We believe that no one chooses dependency, and no one should be shamed for seeking a way out of it. By combining neuroscience-based clinical care with genuine human compassion, we empower individuals and families in Redwood City and beyond to reclaim their lives without ever feeling they must apologize for needing help.
Unlike what you may have heard about one-size-fits-all rehab, our treatment philosophy rests on three pillars that challenge conventional thinking:

"I spent years hiding my addiction because I was terrified of what my firehouse crew would think. The team at TMH understood the culture I came from and helped me see that getting sober was not weakness -- it was survival. I wish I had called them sooner."
-- Marcus D., First Responder
"At 21 I thought my life was over. My parents had given up, my friends had disappeared, and I could not imagine a future. TMH did not lecture me -- they met me where I was and walked with me to a place I did not know existed. I just celebrated two years clean."
-- Alyssa K., Age 24
"After serving overseas I came home to a country that thanked me for my service but had no idea how to help me stop drinking. TMH was different. They combined PTSD treatment with addiction recovery in a way that finally made sense. I have my family back."
-- James R., U.S. Army Veteran
